Renew Your Commitment to Lake Washington Students – vote ‘Yes’ in February on school levies!

Schools in Washington State rely upon local levies to educate our children every year.

Every four years, school districts across Washington offer voters a ballot to approve local school funding measures. In February 2010, Lake Washington School District asked voters to renew its Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) Levy and its Capital Projects Levy – the voters approved both these measures, thank you!

The District also asked voters to invest in our schools with a bond measure that would have provided space for the projected enrollment growth and modernized Juanita High School ahead of schedule for 2014 – the bond provided comprehensive, long-term solutions. Though 56% of voters did vote ‘YES’, bond measures require a 60% super-majority and therefore this 2010 measure did not pass.

.

THANK YOU!  Community voters pass the Feb. 2011 measure with over 60% ‘Yes’ support – overcrowding gets addressed with approved additions to Eastlake HS & Redmond HS, and new STEM high school!

.

“I’m grateful for this strong show of support for our schools,” noted Dr. Chip Kimball, superintendent. “Despite a very tough economy, our community is willing to pay for the needed expansion of space to accommodate our growing student population. Our community’s support for education is critical to our ability to prepare students for the future. It is this support that makes the Lake Washington Community a great place to live, work, learn, and play.”
